As an integral part of your home, your air conditioning unit undergoes a lot of use during the course of the year. But as with all machines and equipment, your AC will most likely start developing a few faults arising from the constant wear and tear.
Not to worry, this is normal and doesn’t mean that your air conditioning unit will pack up soon. It just means that you need to keep it serviced and maintained properly. Most people, however, tend to leave things be until it gets out of hand and develops a major fault. Don’t be one of those people.
The regular and proper maintenance of your air conditioning unit should be a priority. You don’t want you AC unit quitting on you in the middle of a particularly hot day, do you? For people who don’t see any reason why regular air conditioner maintenance should be part of their routine, the following are some of the reasons why:
It Will Improve Equipment Longevity
If you want your equipment to serve you for a long time –we’re sure you do see as air conditioning units aren’t that cheap- you need to consistently have it maintained and serviced. This is the shortest cut to equipment longevity.
Think of it as you do your car. Every once in a while, you take the car into the shop and have it serviced, even though there’s nothing wrong with the car. Yet, chances are that you use the air conditioning unit for far more than you drive your car.
The average air conditioning unit is on for about 12 hours a day on the average while your vehicle is in use for no more than 3 hours. If you take your vehicle out for servicing, don’t you think you should do the same for your air conditioner if you want it to last very long and serve you very well?
Ensure that its Performance is Top Notch
It is possible for your air conditioner to be on and yet, still blow minimal cold air; that’s without you switching to the fans. Why is this? It’s usually because the gas is finished, the filters are blocked or the condenser isn’t working as well as it should among other things.
The point is having your air conditioning unit serviced regularly will help ensure that it works as perfectly and as flawlessly as it should. Your HVAC expert will often clean out all blocked filters –or change them if it’s necessary- to allow more air get into the home as well as prevent dust from getting into the home.
Many homeowners don’t know that a dirty filter lowers the indoor air quality as the filter doesn’t function well enough to suck out dust and pollen from the home. This can exacerbate allergies and potential health problems resulting in asthmas and pollen allergy among other things.
Reduces the Need for Constant Repairs
Frequent maintenance and servicing help detect possible problems on time. When these are fixed pretty quickly, there’s little or no chance that your air conditioner will develop major faults.
Usually, when expert HVAC guys, like Bob Heinmiller, carry, out routine servicing and maintenance, we look out for any possible anomalies that might get in the way of your AC working as well as it should. Nipping these potential issues in the bud means that your air conditioning unit will not need constant repairs in the future –the car analogy again.
Your AC is one of your home’s favorite and most used equipment. Treat it right and it will do the same for you. A very functional air conditioner is one that you’ll enjoy for years to come and one that will keep you safe and comfortable at home.
